21" monitor in cocktail cab?

rchadd:

Has anyone built a cocktail style cab with a 21" monitor?

I see most have a 19" monitor. I have chance on getting a good deal on a NOS 21" (its cheaper than a new 19") and now wondering if I should go for it or not.

Obviously i will need to adjust the dimensions of the std cab design to accomodate it. just wondered if it has been done before?

NY_in_TX:

I can't remeber exactly who, but I've seen 21" and even up to 25" monitors in cocktails.

search the project announcements for "cocktail".

I built my cocktail with a 19" monitor. I thought in the end there would be more room in the cab than there actually ended up being. I had no problems fitting anything but it ended up being pretty close. I know there is no way I could fit a 21" in there though, biggest problem being a 21" would be too deep and crush my Motherboard.

If you plan out your cab you shouldn't have a problem with a 21".

the only thing i am a bit concerned with is how best to mount the monitor so that securely held. Any suggestion on the best approach to take?

the weight of the monitor is approx 22kg.

will the mounting points around the tube should be strong enough to take the whole weight of the monitor in cocktail orientation?

thanks

Tilzs:

The brackets will probably be able to mount the entire weight. If you plan on mounting the monitor to the top make sure you use bolts. IF you don't mount the monitor to the top a good approach might be to mount some cleets made from some scrap pieces of wood on the inside of your cab. You can then set the monitor down and brackets sit down on these like a shelf.
