That was just a quick sketch to show that using leaf buttons will take up extra space underneath, that you may need to plan for. The 3x2 layout seemed the most condensed Theres no differences between a panel using microswitch buttons and one using leaf buttons, or mixing and using both. If you notice the 2 sets of red buttons in the pic, from the top they are the same distance, position, etc. If you're simply looking for example layouts, check out www.klov.com Most of the games have images of the control panels. Or you shouldbe able to find a control panel artwork pack, i think www.mameworld.net has those |

If you really want to do a "classic" panel, then just go on ebay search the coin op area for "Willis", get a willis overlay for some random game. Use that overlay to build a panel, and it will already have the layout there for you. I own Willis overlays for Defender, Q*Bert and Asteroids. |
