coin door light hack
(1/3) > >>
reebboy:
I'm looking for a cheap and easy way to light up my old Midway coin door. I tried cutting down a string of x-mas lights down to 2 lights but as I figured when I plugged it in, it blew the lights. I assume I need a resistor or something in series with the string to reduce the amperage.

How do I go about resolving this problem of blowing bulbs. Or what other suggestions ya'all may have for a cheap 110V light system.

 ???
SirPeale:
Wire the lights right to your PCs powers supply.

It's been discussed quite a bit here.

Search keyword suggestions: coin door LED

Ken Layton:
Does your door already have the original light sockets on it? This only applies to Ms. Pacman doors and newer as all previous games to Ms. Pac had no lights on the door and hence had no lamp sockets.

Will wiring them directly to a 12V supply solve the problem of burning lights out??

My door just has a stiff wire to support a bulb infront of the see through plastic but doesn't have any bulbs nor wiring to go to any bulbs.

I'll check the search again for lightning but I don't want to deal with LED's. X-mas lights are cheap and by cutting it down I'll have a handfull of spare bulbs.
