MameWah & X-Arcade

--- Quote from: MameMe on April 04, 2004, 09:32:13 am ---I only have a x-arcade solo so I don't have a P2 button.
But..I opened notepad.exe and I noticed that my buttons are producing output. For example my left white button located on the side of the x-arcade spits out the number 3. The right button spits out number 4. My white player 1 start button spits out number 1.
The controller works fine in Mame32, but it does not work with mame commandline & mamewah.
Please help, I really want to use Mamewah as a front end.

Sounds like your X-Arcade is working then...try what I said (using it in MAMEWAH) but use '2' on your keyboard to bring the menu up. As I say the default MAMEWAH config will work with X-Arcade (you might want to remap P2 Start for yours, go into Control Options > Customise Controls).
You need to set your controller (ctrlr) to 'xarcade' in your MAME ini file for it to work correctly in MAME. Read the MAME docs and http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/ ...

My solution:
Originally I was trying to use mame & mamewah and that's why I was having problems. I guess I didn't know how to configure the mame ini files or something. So I gave up that configuration.
So...I went with mame32 & Mamewah. I didn't think mamewah would work with mame32, but it does! Wahoo! Now I can configure mame32 ini files under the /ctrl/ini files for my x-arcade. Works for me.
Anyone else use mame32 & mamewah?

So your X-Arcade does work with MAMEWAH now?? If I may say so you were a little confusing about what the problem was...changing to MAME32 would not affect how the X-Arcade works with MAMEWAH itself...
A few people use MAME32, although I do not usually recommend it. If it all works OK for you then there is no real reason to change tho :)
MameMe:
I have no idea why telling mamewah to use mame32 instead of mame corrected the problem. I'm assuming its because mame32 has an option under "Default Game Options"-"Controllers" to choose an x-arcade controller.
So why do you recommend mame and not mame32?
