Problems with VPLaunch & other Wrappers
(1/2) > >>
BobBorakovitz:
I'm having a problem loading anything in VPLaunch or the
command line wrapper.  The screen goes blank and doesn't
let me do anything.  I have tried everything, I've searched
message boards everywhere and google many times, but
found no good answers yet.  I'm hoping I find the golden egg here :)  I've tried manually also, in VPLaunch2.exe there's a menu that pops up and displays my tables, if I double click on the table it should load it up, right? The
screen just goes black and I can't do anything.  I dunno.
I think they were made by Howard Castro, but I'm not sure, there was no documentation.
If someone could help me, then thanx  ;D
BobBorakovitz:
ok, on the VPLaunch front:
I've found someone else who has the same problem:
http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=36264&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&vc=1

I reinstalled Visual Pinball and VPinMAME
I updated to the current DirectX

no go on either....but....

Command Line Launcher:
I'm trying to get it to work with Handy (Atari Lynx Emulator) and when I use it normally, it does the same thing as VPLaunch, just goes to a black screen.  But I found that if I click the mouse then hit escape I can go back to where I was.  Also, if I wait long enough I can hear the music for the rom that I was attempting to load...so further "hacking" found this option in lconfig file: "LAUNCHSTYLE=0" I switched it to "1" and it loads up...not correctly, though, in a window, with a black screen behind it that if I click on it then hit escape I go back.  So the problem must lie in the "layering" of programs?
I have no clue, someone help!!  :P ??? :o :-\ :'( :-X :-[
Dave Butler:
Try these settings for VP. They work for me first time ;D

Set emulator EXE to vp-launch2.exe
Set 'List generation method' to 'ROM Folder Only'
Set the ROM Folder to your tables folder in Visual Pinball
Set ROM extension to VPT

Show DOS box = False
Send ROM path = False
Use Long filename = False
Send ROM Extension = False

Ths should work.
Howard_Casto:
Look at the app bonanza thread.... try the new one, it may help.  Normally I'd troubleshoot for you, but to be honest I'm extremely busy atm.  Sorry.  :(
BobBorakovitz:
ok I've tried the new VPLaunch, it now opens the table fully, but it doesn't let me escape. (without hitting quit) when i do hit quit it brings me to a black screen where if I hit escape it'll bring me back to where i was.  I still think it has something to do with the "layering" of programs...
I thought I might've had a good idea, I thought the taskbar is set for "always on top" I disabled that hoping that was it, but it didn't do anything :(

Oh, BTW I'm using Win98...I don't know if I mentioned that before.  what's everyone else using?  Win2k? XP?  maybe that's it....

if someone has any info, please help me  ???
