Need help with Trackball to mouse hack
Renegade1:
And here is the back side. (the pickups, not mine ;-) )
Blakey:
I think Oscar has it correct. The only difference between your tball and most is that the emitter/detector is two separate units compared to the combined one found on most mice and a lot of tballs.
The Suzo has 4 wires as well, +5V, gnd, +, -. Just like yours (in fact yours is made in Rotterdam. $5 says it's a Suzo too.)
Here's a help for the wiring to the mouse. MS ergo mouse.
And as mentioned, 2.2 KOhm resistors running from the 5V line to your signal lines (4 required) will convert it from active low to active high.
Renegade1:
O.K. I am going to try this I guess, so could someone verify something for me before I blow it up ;D
Using my wiring schematic and blakey's pic as reference's it goes something like this :
Mine:
pin 1 ground or pos ? (I take it pos due to teh "+" sign on the photo)
pin 2 & 3 would have to be connected together and would be the wire to go to the mouse optical pick up wire (or according to Blakey's pic the yellow or green X/Y wire)
pin 4 would be ground? or second mouse x/y wire?
I guess I see the mouse optic would use 2 or 3 wires depending on the setup but I have 4 so I am trying to figure out in which order those 4 would wire up to the mouse.
Using Blakeys pic as a reference I would appreciate the help ;-)
Example
Saying Like pin1 would be "+" or the yellow X/Y wire in pic
Pin 2 would be "-" or the blue X/y wire in pic
etc.
One last question I noticed in the pic that the +5v middle hole isn't used, could it be used to actuall power the trackball optics? Or will I need to bring in another +5v supply from else where.
Sorry for all the quesitons just don't want to fry my MoBo or PS/2 port.
thanks guys!

P.S. would I need to remove the resister already on the board also??
SirPeale:
Trackball wiring is usually color coded. Got some pics of that?
Renegade1:
No Peale I don't as it didn't have any wiring when I got it.
I figured that one of you smart gents could tell me what each pin did by my super efficent paint shop pic :-)
I do understand the basics and by using Blakey's pic as a reference it gives me enough info to go off of. As in the pic shows the yellow/red wires and I understand that would be were the original optical pick up would have been mounted, etc. I just need to figure out what they are compartable to the trackball optics...
Thanks Peale!
