Ok ... I'll need patches for SDL2 2.28.5 then but I can't find any. I have found a topic on the forum where it is being discussed from 2014 but nothing else.
Do you know where I can find them please? I'll apply them, recompile and get back with the result.

Hi, it works now. I tried the wider ranges I posted at the top and they also seem to work. I tried sf2, wboy and mk2 and all is good. Correct mode switching, no stuttering.
I'll test some more tomorrow.

EDIT: The wider ranges I posted when I formulated my question do not work. I still have to figure out what will work. For example when starting cabal everything goes out of sync even if I tell it to use PAL. I hear the sound and it is correct. Speed is fine but no image.
