Groovyarcade with RGBcommander HELP!

I love groovyarcade but I dont know squat about linux. Im trying to get my RGB lights running with RGBCommander. there is nothing on the net with anyone installing lighting on groovyarcade only retropie. Im using the Ultimarc IO ultimate board. I did watch a tutorial for retropie and things seemed to install. I edited the xml file. When I boot I get the generic lights by default, when I start a game the lights freeze and stay that way. Anyone out there point me to a tutorial I can follow or give me some help? I know nothing about Linux, Thanks!
