When I was asking around, I was told you can get what is essentially a dick smith clone. I believe the dse one was a kit? Here's my new one, does it look similar?
Zebidee:
Yes, yours looks like a Chinese version of the Bob Parker/Dick Smith/Silicon Chip ESR meter. I didn't compare schematics but I guess they are substantively the same.
Yes it originally came as a kit that you build. There are/were pre-built for sale too.
I got a bunch of the kits from DSE mail order, around 20 years ago, just before the company's final death throes. Sold quite a few individually. Still had eight left but alas, they have vanished, I believe they were accidentally thrown out with some old whiskey bottles when I was having a shed clean-out. Another reason to not drink.
Anyway, I was going to suggest the Blue Anatek ESR meter, but seems they are also largely sold out these days. They were the same basic design, with a brighter LED display and a different-but-equivalent kind of table. Here are some links. Not cheap.

I dunno about the quality of the Chinese copy versions floating around aliexpress. The MESR-100 design seems popular and cheap. The default leads have clips and look really short and difficult to use. However it'd be easy to substitute something else, like some probes with silicon leads, as they use banana plugs.
