Rowe AMI CD-100A MP3 Disc Playback

For the readers that own a CD-100A box - has anyone been successful playing back MP3 burned CR-R's?  Mine will play burned CD's, but only WAV formatted (using iTunes).  I also tried another CD burning application, and no-good.  It appears to initialize, but I don't believe it actually is.  When I put in the MP-3 burned disc, it will spin up a song but no audio.  I don't have the pro-player model in mine.  Is this possible - MP3 disc playback in this box?
