Logitech wheel in an arcade cabinet. How long should the shaft be? (LOL, shaft!)

So I know a few of you have put Logitech wheels into arcade cabinets. I want to do the same. I have a G920, but no cabinet yet. I also have NO woodworking skills, so I'd have to buy an old cabinet, or a kit of some sort. Thinking of using a cabinet like the sit down gun games, like Jurassic Park or Lugi's Mansion. That way it could double as a driving cabinet or a shooting cabinet, with room for two people. Or both driving and shooting, for stuff like Lucky & Wild or Xbox's Starsky & Hutch.

Anyway, back on topic, how long of an extension shaft would be ideal to hide the Logitech wheel hub? I see this on etsy and it says the length is customizable when ordering, but I'm thinking maybe the default might be long enough?

I wouldn't use an extension unless there is also a bearing on the steering wheel side.  The one pictured in that etsy listing would apply a lot of leverage to the base, possibly breaking it.

Ah, thank you for not letting me waste money! Any suggestions on where to buy/ make one?

I've been using a 6" extender for two years now made from a pvc pipe and wooden dowel.

Fanatec has released an official wheel shaft extension for there lineup.

I would not put a Fanatec wheel in a standup cabinet, but they work really good in proper sit-down cabinets.
