Question of testing Arcade Buttons

If you want a non-computer related way to test the button (switch), sure.  You could just find an LED with a forward voltage of more than 1.5v and wire it direct to the AA battery.  But just as easy would be to pick up a low-cost multimeter with a continuity beep option.  Then you would have the proper tool for all kinds of electrical troubleshooting in the future as well.
