Big GUN4IR announcements!
JayBee:
Big announcement for GUN4IR!
With many people now owning and enjoying GUN4IR, we can move forward with the next step for our system. New firmware and hardware options!
Our diamond style IR LEDs setup have always been the best in terms of accuracy and distance to the display, but we’ve heard the community’s cries for the older "legacy" styles.
Moving forward, with gun4ir you can expect support for 2 or 4 led points using:
• Sensor bars
• Rectangle shape and LEDs in the corners
• And of course, our own diamond shape is still fully supported and encouraged
When using the legacy shapes and bars, you will lose accuracy/stability and generally need to have greater distance to your display, but we understand some users can’t install the GUN4IR diamond shape on their setup and are fine with the trade off.
Since it will be using the same powerful GUN4IR code that has been perfected over years of real world testing and user feedback, you can rest assured you will have the best support for any setup.
The best part? You will not need to buy new hardware for your existing GUN4IR lightguns or modify them in any way. They’re already compatible!
This next firmware will also come with several new features and improvements that have been announced/discussed before such as:
• Full analog stick support
• Improved feedback handling
• More feedback options
• More button options
• Linux GUI support
• And a lot of other surprises 😉
Coming this summer!
We want to thank this awesome community for sticking with us, GUN4IR has always been a passion project and could not have reached this level without your support.
As always, to keep up to date with GUN4IR, the best places are here and our Discord server: https://discord.gg/muCdu3b4hH
Stay tuned for the next big announcement!

Another Big Announcement! New GUN4IR DIY Hardware Incoming!
While I am still actively working on the new firmware and making steady progress, I've also been preparing something special to celebrate the GUN4IR first public release's 5th anniversary! 🎂
It's something I've been working on for a while, and went through a lot of revisions to make it as complete and flawless as possible.
⭐ Let me introduce you to the new members of the GUN4IR family, the fully featured, fully integrated SMD PCBs! ⭐
For now, they come in 4 flavors, matching the 4 blank PCB models previously released: GC1, GC2, Universal and Light.
🔫 The Universal and Light models are the most compact and convenient all in one DIY lightgun PCBs on the market!
📅 They will be available worldwide on the anniversary date of October 26th!
⭐ I'll be doing a series of contests every week until release, to give away a PCB of their choice to each of the winners! 🏆
*Stay tuned for more details.*
Here are the big changes these PCBs bring:
* They are all complete premade SMD PCBs, and both solenoid and rumble circuits are integrated. No more Arduino or extra through hole components needed!
* The rumble circuit now contains the same high spec components as the solenoid circuit, solving the common issues happening with bad quality rumble motors.
* All buttons and inputs/outputs have their own GND and VCC pins. No splitting needed!
* There are several extra pins and options that weren't available with the blank PCBs. No more limitations caused by the Pro Micro's lack of pins!
* Each PCB is also equipped with a set of onboard LEDs that will help you troubleshoot installation issues.
* They all come pre-flashed with the latest stable firmware, making them the most plug and play DIY lightgun PCBs ever! You can either use them as is with the help of a mode button, or use them with the GUI if you have a DIY license.
* They are all compatible with our new highly durable plug and play combo cable, combining both USB and power supply in one cable, and also come with a very strong USB C port and PSU pads if you want to use your own cables (aside from the GC2 PCB that supports the combo cable and
* the original GC2 cable).
Exclusive to the GC1 & GC2 PCBs:
* The GC1 and GC2 PCBs perfectly replace the original PCBs, include all 5 feedbacks (+ the temp sensor input), and come with a few extra optional buttons.
* They both have 2 types of connectors for solenoid and rumble; through hole pins or JST header, for a true modular setup.
Exclusive to the Universal PCB:
* Contains all the buttons and inputs/outputs Gun4ir supports (11 buttons, 5 feedbacks and the temp sensor input), in an incredibly compact form factor.
* Includes an extra header for future upgrades (stay tuned for more information on future additions!).
Exclusive to the Light PCB:
* Especially designed for tight spaces and/or guns that don't need as many options as the Universal. Being more compact than the Universal, it's limited to 5 buttons (Trigger, Pedal, A, B and Mode). It includes solenoid, rumble and temp sensor input.
More details on the release:
* 📅 The sale will start on October 26th, at 17:00 CEST - 11am EDT.
* 📌 They will be available from 2 locations:
* 🌍 Worlwide, (excluding the US) from https://www.gun4ir.com/ at the price of 55€ per PCB (shipping not included, ~3~10€ per package through Japan Post).
* 🇺🇸 US only, from https://rpegelectronics.com/ at the price of $65 per PCB (shipping to the US included).
* Orders limited to 2 per person per PCB type, so that everyone gets a fair chance at getting one.
* We expect the volume of orders to be high, so it will take a few days to fulfill them all.
* With each PCB, we will provide you with the link for an easy to use visual soldering guide.
