UAII Cabinets & 4-Player Panels

I have a question that I have actually had for awhile, but never chased down an answer...

How do you connect a 4-player control panel to the old UAII cabinets?
My panel has just sat on the cabinet for almost 15 years, but I am sure there is a proper way to do this, I just never come across it.

What is the "proper" ;D way to connect the panel to the cabinet, or do we all just have it sitting on top...LOL
