You people are still here!
fallacy:
You almost sound excited that your house and all your stuff has gotten completely wrecked.
Must have been a good insurance pay out. :D

I didn't have flood insurance. Have FEMA stepping in. Not counting on a lot of help. I lost over $6000 in parts and equipment, my bed, hot water heater, dryer, washer, deep freeze, couch, I mean everything. The whole basement. Others in town have it worse, I consider myself lucky.
fallacy:
I guess not being alone in a situation can make you feel better. My parents were moving to a new house a few years ago, my mom was worried about some of her stuff being moved or something. I was like Mom, assuming you could get the pictures/videos and some other keepsakes out would you really care that much if the house and everything in it burnt down tomorrow and the insurance cut you a check? She stared at me for like 10 seconds and then said god you know I think I would not really care at all.

I've returned!!

--- Quote from: Zakk on June 04, 2024, 11:51:46 am ---Oddly enough, 20 years ago, I enjoyed building the machines more than playing them. Now I'm enjoying playing them more than building them. In 20 years I'll be back to building them I suppose. There will be a generation of kids that want a machine built by someone who actually was in video arcades.

God I feel this in my soul. I built probably 5-6 machines with nothing but a jigsaw, some workhorses, and an orbital sander. (and a borrowed router for the t-molding slot).
I really wish I had kept one of them -- I am back to wanting one but the thought of building one from scratch now gives me anxiety. With my main job, side job, and other hobbies filling my non-existent free time (pilots license, 3d printing, etc) i can't imagine finding the time to make it happen.
