Oh well, I’ll see you in hell apparently.

Yes this is exploiting the confines of the system.   Not the same thing.

Also Captain Kirk proved that you are allowed to cheat if the rules are ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow--- and you also happen to be awesome.   #KobayashiMaru
fallacy:
I was bored tonight and decided to edit a music video on War of the Worlds 2005. I mean the movie sucks, the dialog sucks but I have always really liked that first mec attack scene.

RLM did a good analysis as to why there likely won't be a whole lot of movie theaters soon.

I'd love to go see a movie at the theater, but show me one thing worth spending $20 on popcorn for.

We're in the downward spiral. People don't immerse themselves in the written word so they don't create worlds in their minds anymore, at least not on the scale as we once did as a society. Without the influx of new ideas from people with imagination and vision, all we get are rehashes, reboots and gimmicks *cough* disney *cough*.

I've pretty much given up on all of it. Cancelled all subscriptions, and I've started building back a library of books. Just ordered the "Dungeon Crawler Carl" series. I might even build a book reading chair, something beefy, comfy and covered in runes or some sh*t. Kind of go out the way I came in (I used to LOVE reading). Hell, I have been eyeing up the local hobby store, I might damn well start making models again.

Cinema is dead, I really don't think there is any way, nor any desire, to save it. Just an archaic piece of history. Kind of like Blockbuster before it.
fallacy:
Hollywood was doing such a poor job they let apathy set in. Even if something decent comes out most people are no longer willing to waste their time to see it in a theater.

I remember when movies like Lord of the Rings and Twister came out you almost had to see it in theaters. Not just because you wanted to be the first to see it but if you waited to see it on your small CRT TV with sub par sound at home you felt like you were robbing yourself of the real experience.

I think the last movie I went to see was 2016 Rouge One, and the only reason I went to see that is because my parents invited me out to see it. I said sure but I was thinking I don't want to have to sit through this ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, I already know about the Darth Vader scene. We went there and it was even worse than I thought; the screen lighting was dark and dull like the projector bulb needed to be replaced, and the sound was horrible, you could barely even make out what anyone was saying. I would have had a better movie theater experience watching this movie on a phone outside wearing some bluetooth headphones.

I went to see that maverick movie, and john wick. Thing is, I wasn't the biggest fan of top gun in the day, and I really don't need to see another john wick movie where everyone is just firing thousansnd of rounds of blanks at each other. I heard they were doing a 5th(!), definitely not needed.

That fuiosa movie highlights just how out of touch they are. A backstory movie about a subplot character, which doesn't even feature the original actress... I mean, they quite literally COULD have done a real gritty mad max movie with mel gibson, but "of course they wouldn't" because....reasons?  Mel doesn't vote the right way and twitter convinced the corporations that everyone wanted movies about 90lb girl bosses. I mean, disney is putting the final nail in the star wars coffin even as I write this, although I'm like you, I was done after rogue one. Oh wai, I did watch the first season of mandalorian, until it got stale. Mel Gibson looks more the part of a wasteland psycho now than he did back then, what a wasted opportunity. All future max movies are cancelled because of the bomb that was furiosa. I'm not even going to pirate that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, just like I won't watch the last indy movie. A REAL max movie with the budget of furiosa would have been a true blockbuster. Oh sure the 1% of society perpetually offended wouldn't see it, but that leaves 99% of people who just want to be entertained, but try and convince hollywood of that. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. I'll always remember the first time watching star wars, Empire AND raiders of the lost ark in theaters. Even Star Trek II was a real memorable, still remember what seat and theater I was in for that (long demolished).

Books however, have retained their charm 100% :)
