I take it this board is here to stay.. Oh well. :)

Since I'm here I figured I'd put my $0./02

My major problem with the board (and I don't know if there's any way to configure it otherwise), is that the threads don't flow anymore.. The one thing I liked about the old board was the tree/thread structure that allowed you to read a sub-thread based on a reply by a certain author.

Now, you get a pile of messages one below the other, with no real flow as to who is replying to whom...

Besides that.. I guess it's kinda cool, as long as the animations and smiley's don't get carried away......

:) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-/ :-* :'(

See what I mean? :)

The threading of the old board was nice. And many of us miss it. But so far anyway there's no way to add it.

If the animations and so forth become abused they will probably be removed.

Cant we limit the avatar size?

I shrunk my sig per request of a few people who run at 800x600 myself.  It's smaller now then most avatars (7k).  My small animated avatar takes 10k.  So I'm considering changing that to a non-animated one

I still think we should store animations/avatars onsite....  Pending a file size limit I think the board would load alot smoother that way.  Or at least add more arcade-related avatars to the default ones.

Avatars are linited to 65x65 pixels.

As for graphics in signatures... They are being reviewed.

Over at my board (sd-1.com), I force users to send me a picture for the avatar so I don't get people linking to outside servers, slowing down the board.

Also, as for images in sigs, I don't really like them, but I do allow my users to put images in their files, but I limit the size (no more than 70 pixels high - haven't had a problem with width yet).  I also only allow them one line of text if they opt for the image in the sig.

It keeps the board looking pretty good to have rules laid down in respect to avatars & sigs.

I could breeze through the "old" message board better.

There was just one main page to download that gave you most of the inportant info, and as it was downloading I could 1) see every message header, 2) see at the drop of a hat what messages I have already read, 3) see who posted each message, 4) and I wouldn't have to scroll back and forth to read each message. 5) I could open up mulitple windows which downloaded quickly(even with my slow connection) from different messages at the same time.

All this made wading through messages much, much faster.

The "old" board is just much, much simpler, and easier to use.

(Twin Galaxies changed to a more complex message board and now it is all but dead).
