new stern long range opto replacement parts 515-0215-00 515-6940-00

these opto switches are failing left right and center...stern doesn't want to cough up a schematic for this board since it's repairable to find out what the original parts are... and they wouldn't be able to sell replacement boards at 30 bucks a set... so, I found my own parts to fix these god forsaken things. You're welcome!

same parts for old and new boards.

old part number TX "515-0215-00" and RX "515-0215-01" boards

and new part number TX "515-6940-00"  and RX "515-6940-01" boards

used in newer sterns... list below for googleability.

parts available from mouser and digikey

replace TX with led "859-HSDL-4220" about a $1.50 ea...sub $1 at 10 order quant.

replace RX with "SFH313FA" $1 ea sub 60 cents at 10 quant.  and you may as replace the switch transistor as well since it's a sub 50 cent part - 2N7002 get 10 for 40 cents ea.

order 10 sets of everything and repair 10 optos for the cost of one board set.
