Question: What is the Best way to install the MARQUEE?
Jabba:
Hello All,
Been researching the best way to install the MARQUEE. I understand the part of sandwiching the graphic between two pieces of plexi. My question is, what are the different wayt to install the plexi? Here are some ideas I've gathered so far...
1) Route a slot in top and bottom pieces (speaker panel) and slide MARQUEE in that way.
2) Buy the HAPP Marquee Reatainer. Questions I have here are
a) Anyone have any pictures/info how this is installed?
b) Anyone have any alternativ methods (i.e., bying a piece of PVC at HD?)
3) Builld a frame and I think SCREW the marquee to the inside frame? Anyone do this and how does it look?
4) I can think of using Velcro and use this. Might not be too secure though, eh?
5) Use Mirror Clips. Anyone use this method? How does it look?
Any additional info from you guys would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Garry

1) Maybe I am not understanding this method, but once you insert the marquee, how do you get it out?
2) a) It is really simple to install. The marquee retainer presses the marquee sandwhich aganist the frame of the cab. First you cut 2 pieces of the retainer to the size of the marquee. Then you screw the top part and bottom parts of the retainer into the cab.
b) Some people have used 90 degree angled black metal brackets. I believe they got them from HD and painted them black. They looked just as good if not better than the Happ retainer.
4) Velcro would be plenty strong, but I do not know of anyone who secured it this way.
Good Luck!

I believe the corner molding ( moulding, for you Brits ;) ) has been recommended before. You can get it at any Home Depot (or other Hardware Store). It's actually called Corner Bead and can be found in the Building Materials Section (usually near the drywall). It usually goes for ~ $1 - $2 USD for a 10' piece. They are either constructed of metal or plastic and there are several different profiles to chose from. An overall good, cheap alternative to Happs Marquee Retainers.
PS, Trying using a profile like the "J Bead"
that you can find on the bottom of this PAGE.

There's many ways to do it, I stole my double dragon II cabinet idea.

I know this isn't a great picture, but here is a shot of the Happ marquee retainer (top part - bottom is stock).
