Value of the Namco Classic Vol 2 Arcade Jamma Pcb
« on: July 05, 2022, 05:36:36 pm »
I'm looking at buying a Namco Classic Vol 2 Arcade Jamma PCB and wasn't sure how desirable these PCB's are. It's hard to find much pricing history on them, but I see this one for sale on Ebay now:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/325043573295?

Does that price seem about right, or does it seem high?

All prices are ridiculous at the moment, they're simply not worth paying.

They need to come down to about 1/4 of what they are now, maybe even 1/8th.  For the most part people aren't even buying them, just listing them at stupid values.

It's one of many reasons we've stopped caring much about arcade boards; if people have undumped boards they want to see in MAME they can loan them out / donate them, or dump the ROMs, otherwise prices aren't worth paying.

My advice right now would simply be to not buy anything.  The bubble will burst, the current prices are delusional.  We're seeing PCBs we had to pay to have people take off our hands 15 years ago (because the offers wouldn't even cover shipping) being listed for $500-$1000

I’ve been hearing about the bubble bursting any day now for over 20 years.

Wow Lew, that is nutty.

You can buy a new Raspberry Jamma and RPi for half that, can't ya?

And I think we may actually see some demand destruction for all sorts of stuff soon (and price drops finally as a result- in many things.)

Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools! I can fix it.

Yup this is like the temporary expansion of a dying star. 90s nostalgia probably has less than a decade left in the tank, and the prices on this stuff are going to plummet.

They're just trying to fleece the 90s kids one last time.

In a 100 years, I bet most arcade boards will be worth almost nothing. The subsequent generations simply don't care at all.

Well, then, in 100 years you can tell me, “I told you so.”
