what cheaper and simple was to connect a Rpi4 to an arcade monitor are there?

(1/1)

abispac:
So since MiSter boards a bit expensive right now and i found a cheap price Rpi4, im looking for ways to connect it to an arcade monitor. Im aware of stuff, like the vga666 or the pitorgb, but then i came across this video on youtube that claims to have use only a hdmi to vga converter then a simple brekout cable. So i was wondering, if it is true?
Thanks for your time

so i've only used a super wonky resolution on an rpi3 via hdmi with an hdmi to component adaptor to get 240p on a CRT TV.
it worked bretty good.

i've seen mention of using a gertVGA666 with a cable to combine some signals but never seen a diagram.

people do use the gbs 8100's with a vga out put on the pi to convert to RGB.

now according to this link.
it can be done with a vga666 and one of these to combine the H & V sync for RGB.

as for your video, he puts info into the notes but all the links are dead.
but you should be able to get a VGA connector and make a cable using his pinouts then put in his timings.

Im pretty capable of building my brekout cable, ive done it to many times now, and by looking at it, it looks like the vga666 plus a break out cable would be a good option, even with the hdmi to vga cable plus the breakout cable loos promising. So i think im gonna give that a try.
