Nice job on Kong.  I just bought an original Donkey Kong cab on Thursday so I'm re-learning how to play.

Fantastic Gilrock!  I'd love to have an original cabinet one day.  I play a bit on MAME and targeting 500K,   current best is 309K.

What condition is your machine in?  Have you posted any pics?

Nice! My high is 309,900. That is without going nuts on the first round going for points. I need to learn that strategy.

This is a very cool project. I will have to try and get this working on my bartop machine.

This is nuts.  Well done, man.  Now... to get it working on a real vector monitor?

Thanks man!  There's a project to build MAME to output to a vector monitor via a Pi or teensy - https://trmm.net/MAME/ .  Interesting reading.    I'd be tempted to look into it if I could get a cheap vector monitor or a Vectrex.

Cool,  it'd be good to see this running on your bartop.  Shout if you need help with setting things up.

Do you have plans to port this to a real vector display?  Either an arcade cabinet or the Vectrex? Clearly not 6809-native on the Vectrex, but is there any chance it could run under a modified emulator on a Pitrex driving the Vectrex display?  We appreciate the effort to get the look right, but it's pretty meaningless unless real vector hardware can keep up, and the Vectrex can't drive its display as fast as say a Starwars cabinet.

If I can get my hands on a Vectrex or vector display then I will take a look. A custom MAME running off Raspberry Pi such as the link I posted above would be my first port of call.  I’ve never looked into vector display interfaces so it’d be an interesting project for sure.
Outside of vector displays,  this plug-in enables high resolution scaling without pixelation.  The functions could be adapted to other classic arcade games.

This is amazing work! I personally prefer the vector backgrounds and the sprites of Donkey Kong and the Barrels.

Thanks!  I'll consider adding config to switch original sprites on/off.

Nice work to all involved.

good day.

Yes,  fantastic to see VectorKong running on an actual Vectrex.   Thomas Sontowski - the creator of the VecFever hardware for Vectex - reached out and offered to do the work on this Vectrex port.  He converted my code, dramatically reducing the number of drawn vectors to make it playable.  Bloody fantastic!

Someone needs to get this into a full sized cabinet.

Great job, so does this work on any vectrex emulator?

Thanks!

I made this for MAME but there is now a version for Vectrex that was ported over from my code by Thomas Sontowski - see https://www.vecfever.com/faq/vector-kong/
This requires an original Vectrex and a Vecfever cartridge.  I don't believe it is possible to run this under a Vectrex emulator currently.
