Looking to Hire someone to setup Custom Arcade
« on: March 06, 2022, 05:08:25 pm »
Update: 3/9/22 https://imgur.com/a/qDX4yud I went and was able to watch a guide to installing the buttons, and switches, so I did that. I'm working on installing the joysticks now. I'm trying to do what I can myself.

Hey Everyone,

I'm looking to hire someone in the California (Central Valley Area) or willing to travel to help setup and configure a custom arcade cabinet.
The cabinet is built.
I have x2 Ultimarc Ultimate IO boards + cables.
It is a 4-player cabinet with 6+8+8+6 Layouts
Has an additional 4-way with two buttons and a TrackBall as well.
Buttons are static colored so no RGB configuration needed.
I already have a PC ready to go with software/roms already setup I purchased from another Arcade builder.

I just need someone to come wire everything together, configure all the buttons for the Ultimarc IO boards, and get it configured on the software for the Emulators, Mame, etc.

If anyone is familiar with building/setting up these cabinets with the Ultimarc Ultimate IO boards, and is within reasonable travel distance to come help me out. Please hit me up with how much you'd be willing to do the job for me and we can work something out!

Thanks,

Tyler from Fowler/Fresno California

I’d say thats fair.

What you’re asking for someone to do is a LOT of work.  In fact it’s most of the work. The cabinet is always the easy part.  The frustrating/infiuriating part is the wiring and software configuration.  It takes a lot of time and effort.

Oof that is a lot of work. Any reason why you couldn’t do it yourself? There are plenty of resources and information on this forum for you to learn to do it.

Otherwise, yeah, you’ll be paying a crap ton of money to get this done for you. It’s a big workload and tedious af.

I would do it but there aren't nearly enough buttons on that CP.

Its no one I've ever seen but it is hard to make out.  No matter who it is I thought it looked out of place and stupid to be on the cab.

That explains it.  I never played any of the fighting games except Virtua Fighter on a Sega home console.

Only one I ever played was Karate Champ.

And I could build that cabinet out for $1990.00
But OP would need to buy me a plane ticket too.
And rent a place to stay for me for 3 days.

Make it 5 days.
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools! I can fix it.

It's Dan Forden from the Midway Mortal Kombat II Team, it's just one of my favorite games from the Arcade as a kid thought it would be funny to slap in there :) It's silly I know..

$2,000 and I’ll do it

That's out of my price range for sure. What is the most challenging/time consuming parts?

I went ahead and installed the buttons and I'm working on the sticks now. It's the wiring that has my head spinning. I've watched a few videos but it's very overwhelming for me.

https://imgur.com/a/qDX4yud

What could/should I try to do myself to bring the price down? I have the PC setup with all the software, Roms, I paid a guy to send me the image of his computer with a preconfigured dual Ultimarc Ultimate IO install + all the working software I can load it up and it works just fine, but I'm not sure what it would entail to make the inputs map to the software once and if I even got it all wired up.

sorry for so many questions, just trying to figure out what I can do the best way I can do it.

I think you can do this.  Just create a project build thread and when you run into trouble post a question.  Its best to keep the questions down to one problem at a time.

Start with what you know/think you can do and work your way out.

  • Is the PC inside the cab and hooked up to the monitor?
  • Do they Power on?
  • Can you get to a game using a keyboard?
  • Do you have the joysticks/trackball bolted on? (Wiring part can come later)

Once you get through what you can, babystep from there.

To answer your question about the key configuration, just keep your keyboard handy on the setup. Start by wiring one button, like P1 Start. See what happens when you press it. try configuring it.

Thanks,  yeh I do have the PC and it is hooked up to the monitor which is installed. I'm going to try my hand at wiring the buttons this weekend and see how it goes I just have horrible anxiety about this sort of stuff. Thanks  for the motivation. Take your time. Take Notes. Take Pictures. One wire at a time. Configuring the games to work with your layout will be far harder than running the wires. So, there's a bit of a positive note!
