mame touchscreen?

hey guys,

way back when, i used to have megatouch games working on a touchscreen glass that i had on my machine.  i have since upgraded the monitor and i got a frame touchscreen, something like this:

works beautifully as a mouse on the desk top, can click, double click, move icons, etc. but can't for the life of me get this to click (touch) in megatouch games.  if i turn on the cursor in mame, it moves accordingly but the mouse press click just doesn't work.  i've tried setting it up in the controls but it just doesn't register as a mouse click.  fyi, no drivers installed, windows just sees is it as a mouse (and i do have multi-mouse selected in the mame ini)

anyone got any work arounds?
