Touchscreen project help
« on: February 06, 2022, 06:43:02 am »
Am going to try and make a touchscreen jukebox
The main thing I want to know is what is the simplest way to run the touch screen
Eg using a a old pc or a fire stick or something else
I have a large collection of mp3s which I am putting on to a external hd

Then just want to plug that in somehow

Any ideas please

Just thinking
If I plug a usb with music on into a tv it will play the music
So if I do the same principle to a touchscreen device that would also just play without any pc etc BUT how do I add the software so I can do searches and play tracks and have covers on the screen to touch and play and also sort the music on the usb/hard drive

Just use a cheap tablet.

They are already touchscreen enabled and have a bazillion ways to play music.

Get one with a headphone jack and you can plug it into an amp with speakers.

How do I add a photo
To upload your image here (highly recommended),  look under the box where you edit the text for your post.
- There is an "Attachments and other options " menu link.
- Click on "Browse" and navigate to the photo you want to upload.
- There's a stickied "Not a project" thread in Project Announcements so you can upload the images to that thread then put a link to the uploaded image URL where you want it to appear in your thread. (Attachments appear at the bottom of the thread where you upload them.)

For example, Lomoverde uploaded pictures of his stencil work in this post.  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,164992.msg1751727.html#msg1751727

If you wanted to show the "stencil2.jpg" image from that post in this thread, you would put the image URL inside IMG tags  ( icon). . .

Code: [Select]
[img width=252]http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=164992.0;attach=390050;image[/img]
. . . and it would show up like this.
- The original image was 504 pixels wide, so "width=252" displays it half-size. (Use "height=" to set the vertical size.)
- Click on the image to see it full size.   ;D

Great
Bought this for £10 to practice on
Was going to insert a tablet or small touchscreen where the logo is

Nothing is turning on at the moment, there is power getting there but nothing is happening
Can only remove the panel
Can’t even get inside as it seems to be sealed
Any ideas
Or can I buy a replacement pcr or is there anything else to test

Also thinking of a car stereo in the front

Found what I am looking for
So basically want to run the touchscreen of pen drives if that’s possible so one with preloaded software on and one with music on
Then I can just touch the album art to play and to search for songs

FYI most windows drivers for touchscreens operate in "mouse mode" IE you can press and release your finger anywhere on the screen and it will register as a mouse left click there. you can press and drag your finger to click and drag.

Also like zen point  but can you run that directly from a usb

Not sure what you are asking.

You need some kind of computing device to run the software.

PC, PI, or something.

You can't just load software on a USB stick and then run it off of magic.

So if you put photos on a thumb drive and just plug it into arc or monitor it will be able to recognise that and show the photos
No pc
Same with music on a thumb drive it will play the music with no pc
So was just wondering if there was any software to put on a thumb stick that would help run a jukebox program

that kind of software is built into the firmware of the TV/Monitor. it's an actual "program" that runs in the TV itself when you select the USB as an input device. it has nothing to do with whatever is on the USB drive.

you are going to need some kind of computer device attached to the display to do the things you are looking to do.

Might try a fire stick or android box and also the fire stick has alexia on so might be able to use that to play songs
There are also usb drives that have a mini pc built in
Just trying to make sure I get the right stuff prior to the build
So next on my shopping list will be the light covers or deffusers but really wanted the arch part but can’t find them
Then I will look at sound to light rgb leds
Then a template
Thanks again
