Help old long time member out FE
« on: November 20, 2021, 04:34:15 pm »
Hey all,

So it's been years (maybe decades) since I put in a new PC for my cabinet.  I had MALA, was a bit lame.  I just built a new PC, Windows 10 installed and all up to date.  I was going to go with HyperSpin but I see it doesn't work with the latest version of Windows 10 and MALA looks like it's no longer a thing.

Mostly playing MAME games but will also have lots of other emulators.

Which front end should I use.  I don't have a ton of patience and really need something that's straight forward that kids (that come to my daughter's parties) won't break.

Please help!!!

Attract Mode has become quite popular, it's what I use on all my projects now: http://attractmode.org/

It requires a bit of tinkering though to get everything as you might like. If you don't enjoy that sort of thing, LaunchBox is sort of the hassle-free option. Especially when upgraded with the paid-for Big Box mode.

Ditto, no problems in 10 or 11 for me. You probably forgot to install the patch. https://hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/21571-windows-10-build-2004-hyperspin-fix-official/ Try installing that first and THEN try Windows 10/11. Alternately, I also agree with Attract Mode. It has a very Hyperspin type layout you can setup using Hyperspin's art files.

Here's an example video of Attract Mode using a Hyperspin theme:

Any thoughts on Launch Box?
