Spinner Push/Pull available anywhere anymore?
« on: September 13, 2021, 08:44:17 am »
Howdy All,

I have a MAME cabinet I built in 2014 and the GroovyGames TurboTwist has given up after multiple repairs. Seems there isn't a manufacturer out there right now who makes them: Oscar, Groovy, Apache, all are gone. Any Ideas?

Make one yourself.

As there is only one notable game that uses it, you could make do with the parker pen mod.

Do you have a 3D printer?

That 3d printable push-pull spinner model looks promising.   ;D

If printing one of those is not an option, there are only a few games that use a push/pull style spinner: Discs of Tron, Forgotten Worlds, Kozmik Kroozr, and Zwackery.

Discs of Tron and Zwackery have an 8-way triggerstick with thumb button and a push-pull spinner. (stick + spinner + 4 buttons)
- The rocking foot pedal mentioned in the thread that Vocalitus linked is an easy substitute for the push-pull spinner in these games.

Forgotten Worlds has an 8-way stick and push-only spinner. (stick + spinner + 1 button)
- You can use an 8-way triggerstick and regular spinner for this game.

Kozmik Kroozr has an analog triggerstick and push-only spinner. (analog stick + spinner + 2 buttons)
- You can use an analog (or 8-way if you don't mind the loss of fine controls) triggerstick with thumb button and regular spinner for this game.

Scott
EDIT: Eco Fighters uses a push-only spinner like Forgotten Worlds. (Option added in MAME 0.169.)

Wait a week?   We still manufacture and (often) sell the TurboTwist High-Low spinner, which is why we ran out of the stainless steel knobs.

More are expected to be available late this week or early next.
