Hello Haze,
Thanks for posting those youtube links for games that were left out of the "no filler" list.
I take no issue with your opinions of the list.
In the first video though, you mention that the inclusion of rotary joystick games irks you.
If you haven't played them with MAME configured to reliably rotate the character exactly one notch per key press, please give them another try. Not the same experience as original controls, but very playable.
You probably know how to accomplish this, but for the benefit of anyone else:
Keys would be mapped to AXIS INC/DEC or DIAL INC/DEC. For a standard "straight 6" arcade panel I map them so that my thumb turns left, index finger fires, and my middle finger turns right. The main AXIS or DIAL input should not be mapped to anything.
To get them to only move one notch per key press:
(from the BYOAC wiki)
MAME Settings for Mechanical Rotary Joysticks
For mechanical rotary games:
"Input (this Game)" menu
Positional Analog to none
"Analog Controls" menu
Positional Digital Speed = 0
Positional Sensitivity = 100
For optical rotary games:
"Input (this Game)" menu
Dial Analog to none
"Analog Controls" menu
Dial Digital Speed = double the default value
Dial Sensitivity = default value
These instructions are on the first post of both original threads, but people could be getting that list from elsewhere now.
If you've already played them this way and consider it garbage....carry on.
