Repairing touch screen glass ribbon cable type
« on: September 02, 2021, 06:59:51 pm »
Has anyone ever repaired the ribbon cable that connects to the touch screen glass. I have one that pulled off it has 4 little tabs and looks like it was maybe taped down or some kind of glue. Looks like it came off clean. So i was wondering if conductive epoxy would work to reattach this to the glass tabs or is there a better method, Other then replacing it. Thanks

Ive accidently ripped the cable off an overlay. The film layer is still conductive (ive tested with multimeter) so in theory, some conductive epoxy should work. I would be careful to clean both surfaces, but make sure to not use any solvent that might dissolve the conductive film layer. Anyway, good luck and let us know your results.

>Volume Resistivity   43 ohm. cm

this might be a problem. it might not be...but you should know... MG chemicals specs their various conductive pens as...

silver - Volume resistivity: 0.0001 Ω/cm
nickel - Volume resistivity: 0.0068 Ω/cm
carbon - Volume resistivity: 0.46 Ω/cm

your graphite pen may introduce a significant skew to the sense lines of the panel at 43 ohms

Where exactly is this ribbon? I am wondering if it's why my touch screen doesn't work 50% of the time on bootups.
