Playmate Escort Wall box question
« on: April 17, 2021, 07:25:19 pm »
Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but have been lurking for a while reading and learning.

I recently aquired a Rowe HML hideaway jukebox with a Playmate Escort wall box. I'm working my way through stripping down and overhauling all the parts.

The wall box appears to have been modified as it contains a PRI&SM HGM-250 Issue 2 circuit board which I believe allows the wall box to be used with a variety of different juke boxes.

There was a fault with this board (blown 12v PSU rail) which I have repaired. When the box is powered up, it displays 4 - 1 on the selection indicator, which I believe refers to the version of the EEPROM installed (sticker says 4.1 on top).

Then the display changes to F - 2 with the 2 flashing and nothing further happens.

Is there further set-up I need to do? Extensive googling has revealed very little about this board.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Scott

Post some pics if you can!
Curious to know what this is myself.

I imagine someone who knows these will see your thread and chime in.
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools! I can fix it.

Hi,

I've attached a pic of the circuit board with its top cover removed.

The 3 push buttons are marked as Program, Reset and Credit.

Thanks,

Scott

I've never heard of that jukebox model or the wallbox either.

Do you have pictures of the jukebox (full exterior view as well as interior view of the guts) and the wallbox?

I believe these particular wall boxes were unique to the UK, and were made by Hazel Grove Music. ami-man would probably know - Is he still about?

The hideaway model is basically the guts of an R89/90 minus the flashing lights and woodwork!

Oh, no wonder I've never seen these. They are UK models not domestic USA models.

Ami-man hasn't been on this forum for quite some time. He's moved over to this jukebox forum:

So, quick update:

It's a MK4 box, and having an appropriate manual (Thanks jukeboxparts) really helps!

The flashing F-2 means that the box has forgotten which type of jukebox it is talking to.

Bit of re-programming later and all appears to be working well.  :applaud:

Thanks

Scott
