Upgrading hardware/drivers help!
« on: April 07, 2021, 03:37:58 am »
Here we go again..
I'm updating my cabinets to newer hardware and latest software (Win10) etc, but when i try to install emudrivers and then run VMMaker, it say there's no compatible drivers loaded. (crt_emudriver_&_tools_2.0_beta_15_18.5.1_W.10-64)
Before installing drivers, the card is recognized as an R5 200 series, but after it is called a HD6450. but it doesn't say anything about the driver name being CRT Emudriver...
I did have this card working in Windows 7 previously, but i can't remember if i had the same issues back then...

Then when i try to start VMMaker is says this:

Any ideas please?
And thank you in advance!!

Seeing as your card now thinks it is a HD6450, maybe you could try installing the Crimson 16.2.1 based CRT-emudriver?

Ok, next issue, any idea why exerion is running in an interlaced mode? Is that the correct resolution for this game?

Exerion is a vertical game, 320x224? It has to be in interlaced mode to fit on a horizontal 15khz CRT.

There are some auto-rotation options in GM for vertical games you can play with.

You can get it yourself from the executable from command line:

mame.exe -listxml > mame.xml

It will take a short minute or so to finish. There are also places online to download it if you search (get right one for your version of MAME).

mame.exe -listxml > mame.xml
was sure i tried that last night, but all it did was produce a .DAT file..
but something can't be right... it now produces a mame.xml but it's 248MB big? and it won't open..

the xml file will be too big for MS notepad etc

use Notepad++ instead, more of a pro-tool

Hello again brain trust :)
Just wanting to check if i've done everything correctly?
All the vertical games in my vertical cabinet seem to run at the exact same resolution? (240p), but with varying Hz..
Also, there seems to be a white 'mark' in the middle of the screen which shows up at this resolution, but not on the desktop resolution.. any ideas what might cause this?

I'm using the Nanao MS929 preset at this stage..
crt_range0 15450-16050, 50-65, 3.910, 4.700, 6.850, 0.190, 0.191, 1.018, 0, 0, 192, 288, 448, 576

Thanks again for your help :)
