Help with R7-240 Card and CRT Emudriver please?
« on: April 02, 2021, 07:10:17 pm »
Hey all, i'm in the first stages of trying to get my cabinet converted over to a proper CRT output (was previously using S-Video out on an old card, and it wasnt great).

So I picked up a R7240-2GD3-L card, but its missing the ribbon cable which has the VGA output. Unfortunately it's other ports are DVI-D and HDMI, so i pretty much need this.

So i figured I would try to find the pinouts of this header, and wire them up to my encoder directly.
I've done countless google searches trying to find the pinout on this 12pin header, with no luck. So i'm hoping someone has been through a similar scenario, and might already have done the research?

With only 12 pins, and 4 of them ground which i've already verified, it leaves me with 8 pins of unknown, 5 of which are putting out 4ish VDC, and no way to know whats what.

I'll be attempting to output this signal to a Neobitz RGB encoder, as it has Y/C output which I need. Plus its the only encoder i could find for sale anywhere. So i'm assuming i'll need to enable composite sync in the CRT Emudriver or Atom15 once its all working correctly.

Thanks in advance!

Ok, have an update. I was able to acquire the vga ribbon cable for this video card, and things are.. better-ish..
Maybe someone can chime in on what they think might be wrong via the video i attach?

I see an image for a frame every few seconds, but it seems like it cant lock on.

My setup:
Windows 10
Dual Monitor output temporarily while I am debugging.
Integrated GFX -> LCD Monitor.
R7 240 2GB with VGA out -> Neobitz RGB encoder Y/C out -> Sony CRT TV
CRT Emudriver 2.0 with NTSC preset, Composite Sync enabled

Now granted, all the cabling is DIY soldering, which im not new at, but there is lots of room for improvement.
Neobitz has RGBs inputs only, so i wired up the H-sync and enabled through CRT Emudriver.
