Volume control for MAME using AutoHotkey hack. Useful for PC iPac users

(1/1)

Phreakwars:
The volume keys in mame weren't meant for master volume, let's change that.  ;D

I plan on using this with the iPac shift function. Love that shift function!! Keep in mind, this hack that I am showing is meant for emulators other then mame as well. You can of course, always use the tilde` key to call up volume. You can program your iPac as such as well.

I just saw thread, I did everything in the video but it doesn't work when I use Mala. It works on the Windows desktop and it works when I run a game through MAME.

darthpaul:
Thanks to DaOldMan and his Controlchoose plugin, I am able to run the autohotkey script when Mala starts. Now I am able to adjust the volume within Mala and selected games.  I have two buttons on the side of my cabinet that I can now use for volume up and down. I can also, with the help of Controlchoose again, stop the script when I exit Mala.

This is what IPAC shift buttons are for?  (Unless you've got an old PS2 port IPAC or something...)

You can literally assign volume+ and volume- to IPAC outputs.

I use

(IPAC shiftkey) + (Player2 Joystick UP) for volume+
(IPAC shiftkey) + (Player2 Joystick DOWN) for volume-
