Search is working... I think!
« on: March 07, 2021, 02:18:22 pm »
With more gratitude and appreciation than I can adequately express, a friend of ours has diagnosed the issue and guided me to the fix, and search appears to be working again. This friend has asked to remain anonymous, so a huge thank you from me here without naming names.

Due apologies to everyone for letting it languish broken for so long. Will post another post about why that was here shortly.

Unknown: If the search indexes are accurate. As of tomorrow (because the indexer runs overnight) please let me know if it's not finding things it should. My default test, "pizza" is turning up hits from Dec 2020 so I think it's fairly up to date.

Edit - indexer is running properly, hits showing up from yesterday.

I've become used to it not working.
......I'm not sure if I feel that something is right or something is wrong now.

Awesome!

I've been searching for things ever since I joined the forum a couple of years ago; I just had to click the "Search titles of posts only" button for it to work.  I figured that's just how it was supposed to function, but this sounds much better!

Update - with permission I can say that the person who donated their time and expertise to troubleshooting what was wrong with search was Malenko - thank you Malenko :)

Cool thanks Malenko.  I actually spent time searching for the solution as well after saint somewhat asked for help last week.  I decided I would need server access to fix it though.

I hope you make it to the next Zapcon.

You also have an open invitation to visit Alpha Centuri.

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Maybe I could reinstate my original post but you know, care factor  :dunno
