My Mini Galaga Cabinet
« on: February 28, 2021, 09:17:31 am »
Way back in 2007, I created a mock up of a cabinet I never did build. It was 2007, and I created a 48" tall Galaga from cardboard to decide if I liked the form factor. Ultimately, I made the Galaga bartop. I thought the 48" form factor wasn't a good option, guess I was wrong.

Turns out that it happens to be an niche, doesn't it?!
 ;)

That is a really nice mock up.
True to shape and just scaled down?
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools! I can fix it.

I like the side handle option.

Something much needed on the 1Ups.

The side handle option was just the handle they cut into the cardboard to help carry it.

Yeah, it was a mock up to see if I liked it. I didn't put the screen in a 90 degree perpendicular like they do on the A1up's, but I laid it back like the original, which pretty much obstructed the view. That was one of the main reasons I didn't like it.

i've built a few 3/4 scale cabinets.  mainly because that size ends up being great for sitting and playing.  but they are 3/4 scale of the real cabinets.  most end up being 51"-53".  those few more inches make a big difference, imo.
