Nintendo Ball Tops
« on: February 24, 2021, 01:07:59 pm »
Did Nintendo use the standard 6mm screw thread for their 25 and 28mm ball tops?   In other words, can I screw a 25 or 28mm on the top of a Sanwa style stick? If not, is there an adapter?

Not sure..... I have one but it's buried in my parts bin somewhere.   Imho Nintendo sticks kind of suck.... just use another brand and this is coming from an accused nintendo fanboy. ;)

I would venture to guess likely, I can say that the old NES advantage was 6mm and I was able to put a JLF balltop on mine. Knowing how Nintendo likes to fall back on their parts, I wouldn't expect them to change sizes.

However, I haven't been able to remove the ball from my cab joysticks and am not going to try to really crank on them to see if I can crack them loose, as I think they are pretty cemented in there.

I just ordered a 25mm and a 28mm from Mikes Arcade.     Hope it works....  If anyone can confirm before it ships, it would be greatly appreciated.

Just got a call from Mike at Mike's arcade.  Nintendo used an 8MM thread.  Bummer.  Anyone know of a 6 to 8mm adapter?

That's too bad.

Well, only speaking in theory, as I haven't done this with anything small, but could you sand off the threading and cut a 6mm thread into it using a tap and die kit?

3:20 mark on this video.
