Megatouch Force Fusion Upright - Wont' boot when power restored
« on: January 29, 2021, 11:06:54 am »
I've got a force fusion upright that won't boot when the power is restored / switch is switched on the back.  I can force it by pulling off the connector on the power pins and jumping them with a screwdriver.. it boots right up.

Here's a picture of the connections (do I hvae these right?)

That, and the system clock is counting at double or triple pace..  seconds tick by way too fast.

Any suggestions for these 2 issues?

Hi

I also have the same problem on mine , I’ve been busy on some other projects but need to revisit it- I did get it going but for the life of me have forgotten how.

I need to bring mine inside as it’s too cold in the Uk to have it in the garage at the moment - despite it being wrapped up!

My motherboard is different from the one in your picture.

Shorting the power pins does not work.  In this version there's a cable that connects the to the motherboard in 2 places and the IO board in one place that's supposed to facilitate this.  I've doublechecked the bios, and "Pwr on after power fail" is set to ON, but it still does not work.  The bios settings are being kept through power cycles... the battery is good as far as I can tell.

Any other suggestions?  I'm especially curious about the system clock counting too fast.

Ive seen this issue a few times. You might want to try replacing the crystal oscillator, or checking the resistors and capacitors that are in circuit with it.

The clock issue?  Ok

I'm assuming you're talking about the clock issue.  I will look into that.

I am saying the clock issue may be direcly related to the booting issue.

And... you were correct.  Swapped in another force MB with a good clock and everything works as it should.
