HyperSpin green video screen with crt_emudriver fix
« on: January 22, 2021, 12:29:22 am »

I have been configuring a windows 10 pc with an ati card, and crtemudriver,  Im now getting green videos, all mp4's, some are flv's (entire sub wheels)

I have tried doing the youtube settings, which no longer exist, and flash no longer exists to turn off Hardware Acceleration,

I have turned off H.E. (hardware Acceleration) in chrome, firefox, IE, windows media player....  still getting green video

( i have not plugged in my crt monitor yet, I was hoping to get this resolved before forcing low resolutions...

ok, I figured it out!

go to these directories:

C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

create a text file called:  mms.cfg

put this line of code in and save in each directory (place the same file in each directory, its possible that only the sysWOW dir is needed)

DisableHardwareAcceleration = 1

the fix above also works with intel drivers keeping flv videos from playing

Thank you for this SORHP as I've had similar issues with playing certain videos with Win 7 + CRT Emudriver + HD6450. I get the green screen issue when using VLC but not with MPC that comes with the Klite codec pack, nor with mplayer which I use to launch videos from a frontend.

I have a shitload of music videos resized/re-encoded to be more 15khz friendly. They are low-res but look awesome on a 15khz CRT.

In my case I don't have flash installed anyway, so I don't even have those folders you mentioned! However your post gave me the idea to disable hardware acceleration in VLC, then restart VLC, now it plays my low-res vids happily.
Check out my completed projects!
