Did many original arcade cabinets actually have plastic "handle bar" inserts on the backs to help with moving them, or is this a more modern modification?

Here's an example:


Note the top area with the "handle bar" inserts.

Bally/midway  used those way back. My Satan's Hollow machine has them too.
Raspberry Pi, AttractMode, and Skeletor enthusiast.

Yeah midway almost always had some kind of hand hold and since they were the largest cabinet manufacturer at the time they are quite common.

Thanks for the info guys.  I was really just curious in part because they seem really hard to find.  Unless of course they have a different name than "handle bars" which would explain me not finding them. :)   I did end up getting a set off eBay for my build.

I am not sure where you get handle bars from.

They are cabinet handles.

Lol.... I dont disagree but that's what the listing called them.  Here's the same guy selling them thru Walmart with the same weird name
