Author Topic: Help decoding WG 27D9200 Series Part Numbers? Need 9202 Video Interface Board  (Read 2199 times)

I have 2 27" 9200 series monitors and 1 chassis.
1 monitor and 1 loose chassis are D9200 I am betting as they both have D9200 printed on the board.


1 monitor is what i believe to be a D9202 as a printed sticker on the chassis says 54A9202 and a sticker on the frame says "Safety Model No 27D9202"


My problem is I only have ONE Video/Sync Interface Board that only fits the connectors on the D9200 monitor and loose chassis so I assume they are not interchangable with the D9202.


First, can anyone tell me a part/PCB number for the Video/Sync Interface Board for the 9202?
This monitor, unlike the 9200, has a bonded yoke, and no convergence rings if that's any additional help.


Second, the 9200 monitor I have has a non-bonded yoke with a retaining clamp, convergence rings, and convergence strips.
Unfortunately, the plastic on the yoke that holds it to the retaining clamp is completely broken/separated and the yoke is just flopping around doing its own thing.
I assume this yoke can be replaced (assuming one can be found.)




Here are the numbers I could find on all the things I have, I'd appreciate any info on these that will allow me to test/repair the 9200s and find a Video/Sync Interface Board for the 9202 (to test/repair)

generally the last part of the WG numbers denote a particular tube size/shape/configuration.

the ACTUAL part number that you should have on a label somewhere for a D9200 should be WGM2792-XXXXXXX (the X's part will vary depending on how or where the monitor was sold usually being something like U0TS30A or U0TS42A. these denote things such as the monitor being part of a a bulk factory installed monitor or sold as a loose item from a supplier)

most all chassis parts across all the 9200 series of the same size are interchangeable... as the 27 and 33 and 39 inch versions are all slightly different in the deflection board area.

there is a slightly different end of run version of the 9200 (basically a pre-9400) that is labeled as a 9200 but shares more of the 9400 design with improved resolution capabilities (800x600) it's basically not documented and i've only encountered it once... and I would prefer never to have to mess with it again. it's possible your weird chassis could be this.

as for the yoke, it's a common thing. they weren't quite tuned correctly and end up running really hot in some resolutions and bake the plastic until the plastic gets brittle and disintegrates. i just goop them up with clear silicone and line them back up. i highly doubt you'll find a decent replacement yoke, as they ALL did it. that's why they switch to the bonded type yoke on later models.

funny. i guess I should have checked my post first but it had gone a bit without a reply.

I literally just sent you a PM before seeing if anyone responded to my post here.

I think i'll give the broken yoke monitor a try and see what happens.

Then i'll cut the wire for that video connector board and make an adapter. between the 9200 and the 9202.   
worst that can happen is I will still not have a since working monitor.

let me have a dig though my chassis i might have one.

can you link me a picture of the one you have, and i'll see if i have the OTHER one.

(EDIT nice formatting on the pic idiot.) oh well you can still read it.) this is one i have... its made in korea.

Here is mine from the d9200..

Interestingly enough, i grabbed the 2 cables. one from the 9200 and one form the 9202, and while the 9202 cable doesn't 'quite' plug into the 9200 board as easily as the original cable... the pinout and connector actually ARE the same and it took some wiggling to get it inserted. More than force and 'coaxing' than i'd normally do to connect a male/female connector. I guess that's why I felt it didnt' fit.

obviously I wouldn't plug in both at same time but just showing them both plugged in.

Since i only have the one board and 2 monitors I could probably use the one you have to try to permanently position and bond the yoke to the monitor on the 9200 and have the other monitor for my multi game set up.

I also notice your board is numbered 025A1527-001

Where mine is 085X0469-001

Not sure if this is just due to the production runs or if there is truly a difference in the circuit itself.

those connectors you have there are "JST-XH" type connectors.

The board I have has Molex "Mini-SPOX" type connectors.

So here is where i am with my d9200

Well I manually centered the yoke on my 9200 and taped it in place with a network of black tape temporarily. Sat it up and plugged it in.
No sounds, then a click, then that HV static sound, another click and a nice red, then green 'NO SIGNAL in the center of the screen.

OK well seems like I might have something. I'm going to epoxy the broken pieces of the yoke windings where it looks like they'll come loose form cracked plastic, I think I might need to rewind (strong word there) maybe re-loop some of the side wires onto the tabs since the main input yoke wire plastic holders broke and some of those wires came out from under the tabs.

I'll tack it in place with some dabs of silicone and make any yoke adjustments before slathering it in automotive RTV silicone to account for any heat potentially breaking down the silicone.

Nothing to lose at this point.

If this ends up working, I'll just need ot find another video input connector board to test my 9400... or actually test it first before installing it on the 9200 and dropping it into the machine.

those yokes usually have a bunch of loose looking loops just hangin' out all over.
