can i just say here.... if the first thing that comes to mind is "how can we mod this machine" are they really making a product that people want?
I feel like people are expecting camaros and getting hyundai excels but then immediately want to put an LS1 in it. (and some y'all LT5)
I guess I don't get it.

only a tiny percentage of people mod their machine,
the vast number of people, in the 10s of thousands dont care, and just play the games as is.

I've kind of thought this too. Negative1 is right that it's really only a small percentage. But I watch a few YouTubers spending extra money on an already expensive toy, tricking it out with new parts, mods and configurations - maybe even slapping a Raspberry Pi in there - and I wonder to myself: would it have just been easier to build one from scratch? I guess that wouldn't bring in as many views?
On the other hand, if someone finds one of those older Arcade1Up cabs on clearance for under $100 and decides to slap a Pi and some better sticks/buttons, that's actually not a bad idea.
