Hi! I'm a 45 year old woman living in Europe and love dedicated arcade games from my childhood. Just a novice, so please bare with me. Currently owning Centipede, Kangaroo, Cosmic Alien, Dig Dug, Ms Pac-Man upright and cocktail table. Bought the Ms Pac cocktail as non working and finally 3 years after its arrival. Fuses were all corroded so replaced the fuses and cleaned the fuse block holders with corrosion lubricant (WD-40). Plugged it in and what happens: - only the fan is working - speakers is mumbling and making cracking noises - I hear some sound of the game a large beep followed by some game noises but then the sound fades - no glow what the monitor is concerned - no lights That's about it. Did not measure the voltages since I have never tried that with my multimeter although I watched lots of how to video's on how to check the voltages. Still has the classic power supply and insulation transformer. Who can help me get Ms. Pac back to life? Thanks! Ann Dit not measure any volt |

This is just my 2 cents, but you might want to go ahead and replace the power supply with a modern switching one and a new transformer while you are at it. They are super cheap and require minimal fuss to replace. Even if you tested the old power supply and it came back fine I'm not sure I would trust it. |

I would have to agree...Dont use some cheap meter though, actually get a little quality, and one with diode/continuity beeps option (for later on in this progect), you dont got to get a 600.00 fluke or anything, just some quality...The power supply, generally they need rebuild, New fuse holders, filter caps, and such, the switcher is a good option, done with a crimper, rater than soldering, But if you are brave, learning to solder is not that hard, Weller makes a nice Benchtop for like 100.00 I would highly recommend, and practice on old junk boards...Personally Jenn would rebuild the old one. |
