I currently have a vertical 4-way cabinet and a vertical 8-way cabinet that covers all my vertical favorites. I am wanting to do a horizontal cabinet and am deciding if I want to do a dedicated 4 way build or a 4/8 way build. I prefer 4 way leaf controllers vs the 4/8 hybrids. I don't really care for fighting games and/or run and gun type games from the 90s like Metal Slug or SF2/3. I was in the Army during those years, so I have little to no nostalgic attraction to the games and genres of that era.
The donor cabinet is a Chicago gaming unit (Golden Tee style) with a roller ball and dual sticks with 6 buttons. All of my gaming memories are from mid-80s back so these are the games I want to focus on. I am 99% sure this will be a dedicated 2/4 way setup with a leaf joystick, leaf buttons, and trackball. I know there are more that I am missing, but I cant remember them. What else am I missing? Are there any side shumps that are 4 way? I think most were 8-way. I have enough real-estate on the CP to add a spinner but I don't want it to be too busy. I don't remember many spinner games either.

Are there any 4/8 way controllers that have the old school arcade feel? My goal is period/play correct vs quantity.
