Steering Wheel w Supermodel emulator
« on: June 26, 2020, 03:32:50 am »
I just received this custom multicade and it uses hyperspin and windows 10. I’m very green to configuring and was wondering if anyone could help me find out how to configure my thrustmaster steering wheel with model 3 emulator. I went to the input options and it has four tabs for basic gun race and other and then each section has columns with button 1 2 and 3. Any help would be appreciated.

Use the Race section for your steering wheel.

Hey thanks for the reply. I have gone in the race tab and clicked on the various controls and then a box comes up with keyboard mouse and joystick. I just really don’t know what to do once in race with all of the options. I have seen your videos by the way. Good job on them!

Map everything under joystick. On my set up I have the XAXIS for steering RZAXIS_NEG for brake and YAXIS_NEG for accelerator but your setup may differ.

I don't use hyperspin so I'm not sure how it works with regards to assigning controls.

If you're struggling, my advice would be to use the command line options built in to supermodel. It runs through each command one by one and you just press the corresponding button/axis/whatever.

I just did this today, but I haven;t finished my write up yet..

Drop to a command line, cd into the supermodel directory, and and run supermodel -config-inputs

you'll see this:

Definitely calibrate your analog controls first.
  • Drag the supermodel window out of the way (but leave it open) so you can see the text
  • Calibrate your wheel and pedals first by hitting the B key
  • When it says "Choose joystick to calibrate.." hit the number corresponding witrh your wheel. (in my case, 1)
  • First, do your wheel (x-axis).  Hit 1
  • Turn your wheel all the way right and hold it there.  Hit enter
  • When "Step 2" pops up, turn your wheel all the way left, hit enter
  • When "Step 3" pops up, turn your wheel to the center, hit enter.
  • Accept the settings by hitting 'y'

The output will look like this (after hitting b):
Code: [Select]
Choose joystick to calibrate (or press Esc to cancel):
 1: Logitech Driving Force USB

Calibrating joystick 'Logitech Driving Force USB'.

Choose axis to calibrate (or press Esc to cancel):
 1: X-Axis (Wheel axis)
 2: Y-Axis (Accelerator)
 3: RZ-Axis (Brake)
 4: Slider1 (Combined pedals)
0: Unsure - help me choose...

Calibrating X-Axis (Wheel axis) of joystick 'Logitech Driving Force USB'.

Step 1:
Move axis now to its furthest positive/'on' position and hold, ie:
 - for a horizontal joystick axis, push it all the way to the right.
 - for a steering wheel, turn it all the way to the right.
 - for a pedal, press it all the way to the floor.

Press Return when done (or press Esc to cancel): Calibrating... Done

Step 2:
Move axis the other way to its furthest negative position and hold, ie:
 - for a horizontal joystick axis, push it all the way to the left.
 - for a steering wheel, turn it all the way to the left.
 - for a pedal, let go of the pedal completely.  If there is another pedal
that shares the same axis then press that one all the way to the floor.

Press Return when done (or press Esc to cancel): Calibrating... Done

Step 3:
Return axis to its central/'off' position and hold, ie:
 - for a joystick axis, let it return to the middle.
 - for a steering weel, turn it back to the center.
 - for a pedal, let go of pedal completely.  Likewise for any other pedal
   that shares the same axis.

Press Return when done (or press Esc to cancel): Calibrating... Done

Calibrated Axis Settings:

 Min Value        = -32768
 Center/Off Value = 1158
 Max Value        = 32767
 Dead Zone        = 1 %

Accept these settings: y/n? Accepted

Do this for your 2 pedals as well
(start by hitting b, then picking joystick, then 2 for accelerator, 3 for brake).
On step 1, hold the pedal down then hit enter
For steps 2 and 3, let go completely and hit enter both times without a foot on it.

Then, configure the necessary controls.

Enter will let you set the current setting then move to the next one.
You can hit down go to to the next setting, up to go to the previous.

I found I needed to set the following (and skip the rest by hitting down *note there are a lot of them*):

Code: [Select]
P1 Start [JOY1_BUTTON10]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Down/h/b/q/Esc?
 P1 Coin [JOY1_BUTTON9]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?

Racing Game Steering Controls:
 Steer Left [KEY_LEFT]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Steer Right [KEY_RIGHT]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Full Steering [JOY1_XAXIS]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Accelerator Pedal [JOY1_YAXIS_POS]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Brake Pedal/Front Brake [JOY1_RZAXIS_POS]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Shift Up [JOY1_BUTTON11]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Shift Down [JOY1_BUTTON12]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
Racing Game Gear 4-Way Shift:
 Shift 1 [JOY1_BUTTON2]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Shift 2 [JOY1_BUTTON4]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Shift 3 [JOY1_BUTTON1]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Shift 4 [JOY1_BUTTON3]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 Shift Neutral [KEY_T]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
Racing Game 4 VR View Buttons:
 VR1 [JOY1_POV1_UP]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 VR2 [JOY1_POV1_LEFT]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 VR3 [JOY1_POV1_DOWN]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
 VR4 [JOY1_POV1_RIGHT]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
Racing Game View Change:
 View Change [JOY1_POV1_LEFT]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
Racing Game Handbrake:
 Hand Brake [JOY1_POV1_DOWN]: Ret/c/s/a/r/Up/Down/b/h/q/Esc?
Note, when setting any of the axis controls, I found I had to steer all the way one direction then slightly back to get it to register
