Area51, Playstation & Gun

I have Area51 for the playstation, and in the book it says that you can use a light gun, buy my Guncon (which I got with Time Crisis) doesn't work on it. I tried them both on the PS2 with the Guncon just incase it was my playstation, and got the same result, Time Crisis works Area51 doesn't.
Am I doing something wrong? Will a different light gun help? Maybe a Guncon2, they have those right?
Oh, man I want to play Area51 the way it was inteded to be played... :-\

I've herd of compatibilitiy problems of some PSX lightgun games played through the PS2 (which is really just emulating psx).
I thought it ment you can't use the usb type guncon2 on psx games...but it sounds like you are using the older guncon through a ps2 and it still isn't working?

Yea, I can't get the Guncon (original one) to work, with Area51, on the Playstation, PSOne, or PS2.
I'm wondering if they just forgot to ad the light gun support to the game or something, because it works fine with Time Crisis...

You just need a regular lightgun,or a Guncon compatible gun that can operate in non-guncon mode. Here's one that works:
