I don't think movies are even shot to be seen in theaters anymore. Not like any of us look up from our phone long enough to pay attention anyway. --- End quote --- disney+ is selling live action Mulan later this month instead of showing in theaters. I expect the Black widow movie will end up the same because putting this option in place for one movie doesn't make sense. i'd pay $40 or $50 to just be able to watch it at home on opening night. costs me about $100 to take my two kids to see a movie at the theater and then the youngest ALWAYS needs to pee 3/4 of the way through so I always end up missing something good. My kids would rather watch a movie on the projector outside in the summer anyways. |

They need to make money for their movies and can't do that if people can't go to theaters or if they can't pack theaters. but back on the topic of wet basements. I ended up just digging down by hand where the majority of my water problem is with the basement. It's where the stone foundation and the concrete addition meet. looked like they didn't clean the stone wall enough when they put down the forms and there was a roughly 2" gap about a foot long starting a foot below the surface. i'm guessing it was dirt and got washed out over the yrs. Packed it with hydraulic cement and no water there after the latest rainfalls! I still get some trickles here and there in other parts but not anything like the standing water 1/4 to 2" i used to get in that location. So i've reconsidered using my basement as a workshop for my 3d printers and other projects instead of my dining room. I need to seal the tops of the rubble foundation with either mortar or great stuff and then insulate the sills because that is where 90% of the cold air comes in. it's like a breeze in the winter. then I need to insulate the sills somehow. Might just box them in and hand fill with cellulose blown in stuff you get for the attic. not interested in finishing it or using it as living space. |

If you are surprised that a corporation tries to squeeze as much money out of you as possible then you haven't been paying attention. I think outraged is the better word. The bulk of your high ticket price is supposed to go to the individual theatres to keep local businesses running. Now that theatre chains are digital the only thing Disney or any of the big studios have in sending out a film is having a server system fat enough to send those films out. By charging an additional fee Disney is essentially trying to rob theatre chains of their profit and see if they can make more money via running the middle man out of business. Personally I'm kind of done with both institutions, but if you like theatres don't pay the high prices for immediate release during quarantine.... if the big studios figure out they can circumvent theatre chains they will, and that'll be the beginning of the end. |
