ALL NEW BYOAC High Score Competition! Games played so far --> http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,156317.0.html

--------------------------
Game Name : Rampage (Rev 3, 8/27/86)
ROM Name  = rampage
--------------------------

Controls
8-way listed
2 button punch/jump

Settings
1 coin 1 play...You only get the one life so use it wisely
Difficulty is default, and set to Normal

Cheats, Tricks, Bugs, and Easter Eggs

It seems that each monster has a particular person that they can hold on to: George holds a woman in the red dress, Lizzie holds the middle-aged man, and Ralph holds a business man. Holding these people will increase your score. To do this go up to the appropriate person with the appropriate monster and do as if you were to eat them. You will hold them in your hand until you hit punch again. Fair warning: holding too long will cause the person to punch you and you will lose control until the monster lets go of the person.

Game Introduction

The player characters were ordinary people until they were mutated into the game's monsters: George, the giant ape Lizzie, the giant lizard and Ralph, the giant wolf. George was mutated after swallowing mega-vitamins, Lizzie was mutated after bathing in a radioactive lake, and Ralph was mutated after eating sausage scam. The mutants' goal is to destroy every city which they come upon. The game has 768 days of destruction and some of them are alike.

Game Play

The players move from city to city destroying skyscrapers and various vehicles and eating people that get in the way. Health is awarded at startup and during the game by putting quarters in. Health is decreased by being shot by National Guardsmen, being hit by another monster, falling, being hit by cops or tanks, going underwater, being struck by lightning, or by eating something bad, like dynamite. Health is replenished by eating food found in the buildings. Once all buildings in a city have been destroyed, the monsters move onto another city.

Last day: Sunday, 24 May 2020, midnight Pacific Time

Posting high scores might be a bit tricky. After playing it once you roll back to the main screen and as far as I can tell there is no HS scoreboard within the game.

My first attempt netted 53,000 even ending on level 3...

85,265. I don't see myself playing this for two weeks, too much button mashing.

Yam - do you want to make this a shortened 1-week HS challenge and pick a new one next week? I would wholly agree regarding the button mashing

92,425. Getting health constantly drained without being able to do much against it is getting old fast. This game might be fun for a few minutes, but that's it.

I loved this game as a kid but it is freaking rough now.  Had it on Sega Master System, and I believe it was unlimited continues in a 2 player game, so we used to play through it from time to time.  Has one of the worst endings ever.

I didn't think anyone ever paid attention to their score in Rampage.

I concede. I played for solid 30 minutes before wanting to climb to the top of my cab and smash it to the ground. 53k unoffical score for me and hopefully someone else wants to pick the next game... which is welcomed sooner than later  :lol

I used to love this one as a kid too. Hadn't played it in years... likely won't play it again for a number of years to come

Only the home console versions had an ending.

The arcade game goes on forever, so you can marathon for high scores.

47100

Man, when I was young this game was one of my favorite things. I'd go nuts whenever I saw a Rampage cab. Now? I was bored after 30 seconds. Seems this one didn't age well at all.

So that's it for this one. Osirus23, since you made 3rd place, it's your turn to choose the next game.

You can take a look at the All Killer, No Filler MAME Gamelists Directory to find good games,

or, if you want to choose a game that has been done in the previous compo, use this: High Score Competition rules and scoreboard.
