Maximus Game Lists- beating the dead horse I'm sure
« on: April 12, 2020, 10:59:07 am »
Many apologies if this has been discussed, but I cannot find the specifics.

Maybe I did it wrong from the beginning, but, I (A) took the 10,000+ ROMs Maximus scanned and created a "best of" list from it, (B) deleted the ones I did not want and now have a 800 game "Best Of" list.  Maximus shows two lists of course; the All Games list and my Best Of. I made a third list of Fighting games off the Best Of list by creating a new list, then importing the contents from the Best Of, then deleting non-fighting games.  (I realize this is probably the incorrect way in retrospect- but it worked)

Question: How to I add a game back onto one of the two new lists. What if I deleted one by accident?  I see the .lst files in Maximus preferences, but they cannot be manipulated (that I can tell with Notepad).

Again, sorry for the duplicate post of it's out there.

Since you already know how to import, use what you know.

Exit Maximum and Preferences
Rename preferences\mame_favorites.lst mame_favorites.sav
Run Maximus
Bring up your All Games list and mark the missing ones as favorite
Go into Preferences, Game Lists tab and select the list you want to add to
Import your Favorites list into your selected list
Exit preferences/Maximus
Delete preferences\mame_favorites.lst
Rename preferences\mame_favorites.sav mame_favorites.lst

There's an old ini file format that would probably be easier to use for this, but nobody seems to know what that format was, and I don't have versions of Maximus dating back that far.
