Restoration or keep it like this? Space invaders cabinet |

Hello, I have since yesterday a dedicated cabinet. I would like to hear your opinion. Do a full restoration or keep it original. The game works good. Only thing that is missing are the levelers. I am from Europe, and getting parts could be a problem I think? What do you guys/girls think I should do? |
bperkins01:
My personal philosophy is to restore so that it looks nice/new but keep as much of the original parts/artwork in place.. Which is a blurry line to walk.. There have been enough old machines that were chopped up or painted over.. A clean and refresh is my goal.. but not necessarily a museum quality restoration where you don't want it touched.. Not sure if that helps.. |

It is beautiful just the way it is. Do you have the glass bezel somewhere? If you don't, then you should track one down and slap it on there. |

That cab is a long way from home and is in nice condition for its age, You are probibally already the envy of all your friends...I would just wipe it down with an automotive grade cleaner/sealer such as Maguires #6 to protect and seal the paint, And if you want to work on it consider a rebuild the electrical side of it. |

Thank you for your opinion I also have the bezel, but I think it's a repro because it's plexi, but the art is printed on it and not a sticker. I agree with bperkins that it would be nice to make a sleek, beautiful cabinet. but then it is no longer original. I think I am trying the cleaner / sealer. it works well, only the monitor shows vertical synchronization problems. I will try to adjust it so that the image is still. here in europe it is difficult to find parts of specific machines. my first problem are the 4 levelers, the cabinet is now on the wood: - \ the bolts have a different threaded end. sorry for the poor english, it is not my native language. cheers Ger |
