I'd still have to find a decent tube tv though.  I've got a 19 incher in the shed but that's a bit small.  It's only composite in though.  I know that the psx has rgb out and the ps2 has component out, but I don't know if the guncons support that.  Are they composite only?

Guncons 1 and 2 work through component. You just use the green cable instead of the yellow.

The Wii has some great light gun games. Some of them even have four player support, which is amazing. Never heard of the Crossfire. It looks interesting. I use the official Nintendo "Zapper" wiimote shell, basically just because it has a decent quality trigger.

They both work in RGB too. You just connect composite sync to the guncon sync cable. I use mine with the Ultimarc Playstation tri-sync cable.

Wii light gun games are best played in the Dolphin emulator IMO. The system does have some good light gun games but they're ruined on the Wii console by forcing the use of the Wii remote. Dolphin let's you map controls to any PC gun you like. There are some excellent PC gun options these days...

It's a really good emulator too. I own a real Wii console and I still choose to play in Dolphin. It makes proper use of the gpu so it doesn't need a monster PC set-up to run well.
